April 2, 3, & 7: Reisen, Balanchine, and Robbins

Composer’s Holiday by Gianna Reisen: The first work by the company’s youngest commissioned choreographer set to Lukas Foss’s Three American Pieces

Kammermusik No. 2 by George Balanchine: A work for two couples and eight men which has not been seen at the Kennedy Center since 1979

Op. 19/The Dreamer by Jerome Robbins: The story of a man in search for his “elusive and ethereal counterpart”.

Symphony in C by George Balanchine: For fifty dancers, this is considered one of the Balanchine’s masterpieces and is recognized for its shimmering Swarovski elements and classical structure.

April 4, 5, and 6 (mat and eve)

Easy by Justin Peck: Choreographed for Robbins’ centennial celebration in 2018, this is a D.C. premiere.

In the Night by Jerome Robbins: A piece set to music by Chopin, featuring three couples.

The Runaway by Kyle Abraham: For the first time in D.C., audiences will see this fusion of classical and modern technique set to artists such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Nico Muhly.

SOMETHING TO DANCE ABOUT Jerome Robbins, Broadway at the Ballet by Jerome Robbins, direction and musical staging by Warren Carlyle: Featuring Robbins’ original choreography from nine Broadway musicals that he was closely tied to.
