Thanksgiving marked the beginning of the winter holiday season and the heightened spirit of giving. It’s a wonderful time to take a moment out of our busy daily lives and take a break from the shopping frenzy to support our favorite ballet organizations. Here are a few ideas on how to do this on the upcoming #GivingTuesday:
- Buy a ticket – be it as an all-season subscriber or for a single performance – and be there in the audience to appreciate and applaud the talents on the stage, behind the wings, and in the orchestra.
- Many organizations provide enthusiasts the privilege to become members; there are typically incremental financial levels for annual memberships that give you benefits in return for your financial donations.
- Several ballet companies and performing arts organizations have special campaigns that they advertise specifically for #GivingTuesday – below is a non-exhaustive list of some of these opportunities.
American Ballet Theatre – America’s National Ballet Company®
Ballet Arizona – Help bring more community families to see The Nutcracker
Ballet Met – Urge the City Council to approve the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s 7% ticket fee proposal
Ballet West – Help young dancers pursue their dreams
Carolina Ballet – Support the company’s artistic and organizational growth
Charlotte Ballet – Support the company’s Reach program whose mission is to give all children the opportunity to dance
